Idlib Health Directorate
The Idlib Health Directorate (IHD) is an independent health authority in the Idlib Governorate, elected by healthcare professionals. Its primary focus is to organize healthcare efforts, coordinate support, develop health plans and strategies, and oversee the implementation of these initiatives throughout the Governorate. The IHD holds supervision over all healthcare institutions within the province.
Established on March 1, 2013, the Idlib Health Directorate was formed through meetings involving doctors from various regions within the Idlib province. One year later, in March 2014, the IHD received accreditation from the Ministry of Health of the Syrian Interim Government and was recognized as the official medical reference authority under the name “Free Idlib Health Directorate” within the Idlib Province.
In 2015, the first General Conference of the IHD took place, bringing together representatives from healthcare facilities, civil organizations, and humanitarian NGOs dedicated to medical work within the province. The outcome of this conference led to the election of the Board of Trustees for the IHD.
