The 2nd International Scientific Conference Towards Promotion, Integration and Empowerment Strategies in the Light of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development held in Aleppo University in the liberated areas – EZAZ – on 27th-28th September 2023

Conference Idea:

According to the UN Convention of Rights of the persons with disability issued in 2006, the concept “persons with disability” includes all those suffering from long term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory disabilities that might prevent them from achieving full and active participation as others do in the society, on tackling different obstacles. A significant percentage of persons with disability is found among the Syrian society. This is due to the war still on the wage for 12 years. The absence of accurate data base of this category is obvious. Yet, the UN report of 2021 about Syria implies that: 28% is the percentage of the Syrian persons with disability in the north west of Syria on a large scale, the number of which is 748.473 d., and 5.5% severely disable, their number is 146.486 individuals.

To put the convention terms into action, and out of human and ethical commitment towards the persons with disability in the Syrian society, who are marginalized and suffering from discrimination and low support rates, along with lack of rehabilitating programs, the organizers seek holding the second scientific conference “Towards Promotion, Integration and Empowerment Strategies in the Light of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.

The conference constitutes an important academic and humanitarian specialized activity concerning the affairs of persons with disability. There are different academic fields, centers
and institutions of care and rehabilitation for persons with disability. The purpose of such facilities is: to draw the attention of scholars and experts in all scientific fields to that category of the society; to direct the humanitarian organizations towards offering more supportive programs for this broad category, especially in the Syrian society. We are all hope that this conference will be a real beginning to mutually create a kind of culture of accepting this category. We are all one body and one human entity.
